RATE AND BILLING INFORMATION

Your sewer bill is $46.00 per unit per quarter. A single family home is considered one unit. Bills are due on the 15th day of January, April, July, and October. If the 15th of that month falls on a Holiday or weekend, the due dates are adjusted to the next business day. In accordance with section 21 A of the Sewerage Authorities Act (Chapter 138 P.L. 1946) interest at the rate of 1-1/2% per month will be charged on all delinquent balances until fully paid. Delinquent balances constitute a lien against the property and are enforceable as such. Failure to receive sewer bills does not exempt sewer user from late charge when payment is delinquent.

DROP BOX

There is a drop box located out front of the Administration Building for anyone who would like to drop off their payment after hours and weekends.

RESIDENTS MOVING
If you are moving, please make sure you have your Title Company call us for final sewer charges and to make appropriate owner name changes.

SENIOR CITIZEN DISCOUNTS
Applications are available for qualified seniors. Must be 65 years of age or older and meet required criteria. Please call for applications.

SEWER LINES
The GTMUA is responsible for the sewer line from the curb to the street. The homeowner is responsible for the sewer line from the curb to the house. Call the Authority at the first sign of a problem (water bubbling, sewage overflowing outside your vent, toilets overflowing, manholes overflowing in the street, etc.) and we will assist you if we can or advise you if further action must be taken, i.e. call a plumber, etc. There is no charge for the Authority to come out and look at the problem. Discontinue running water until the problem is resolved. If the wastewater cannot flow into the main in the street, the wastewater could overflow in your home via sinks, tubs, toilets, etc. Please see above hours of operation. Again, if this is an EMERGENCY after 11:30 P.M. and prior to 7:30 A.M. - call the POLICE. They will be able to contact someone who is on call.

BACKWATER VALVE REQUIREMENTS
Fixtues subject to backflow of sewage from the public sewer shall be protected by installing an approved type of backwater valve. Installation will prevent wastewater from entering your home when there is a main stop.

WARNING: The GTMUA is not responsible for damages caused by sewage backup resulting from plumbing fixtures below ground level.

If your home has a basement, and you're thinking about adding water and drain facilities, such as a toilet or sink, you could be asking for problems. Before you make a move, contact your local plumbing officials. Whenever you install drains in a basement, you could be unknowingly positioning them below the sewer main in the street. As everyone knows, water seeks its own level. If the basement drain is either on the same level as, or below, the sewer pipe grade, you're risking back flow into your home from the sewer main if it should back up for any reason. This potential problem can be avoided by using a licensed plumber and insisting on the use of a back flow preventer, or check valve. This drain valve will allow water to flow out of the home but stop it from flowing back in.
